Queensland is a disaster zone. The floods are horrendous and the worst is yet to come.
In times of crisis, strong leaders are needed. From 1700kms away via the continuous news footage, Queensland Premier Anna Bligh seems to be doing a magnificent job. She is clear, compassionate and very positive.
Despite intense scrutiny, Bligh has been ever-present in the last two days. To me, her refreshingly human and genuine approach seem to be inspiring confidence in those affected.
While it might be a stretch to say she is “doing a Rudy Giuliani*”, Bligh is clearly leading from the front and proving she is very cool in a crisis.
Stay focussed Anna and stay strong Queensland.
* The Queensland floods are horrible, but, at this stage, they are on a completely different scale to the 9/11 disaster.
