I used to get annoyed, frustrated and irritated.  It barely happens anymore. Here’s how I do it…

In late 2009, during a negotiation role play at QUT I leant over to my mate Istvan and whispered, “this is getting frustrating”.  His response: “only if you let it”.

And he was right.  Getting frustrated is a choice.  I didn’t have to choose it.

I decided to relax.  To watch the situation unfold and to observe other people getting more and more frustrated.  It was a role play, why get frustrated?

Very few situations in our lives are life and death.

Since that day, I don’t let a situation control me.  I don’t get frustrated because I don’t let myself.

How to never get annoyed again:  choose not to.
